Manufacturing

Build the insurance submission around the production flow.

For businesses turning materials into finished goods, equipment, stock and customer obligations belong in the same review.

A manufacturing account starts with how goods are made. Describe the operations at each location, the materials being processed and the products leaving the floor. That account of the work helps put property and liability questions in context.

Start where production could stop

Identify the machines, utilities and outside processes that other steps depend on. Note the practical alternatives if a piece of equipment is unavailable. Property values alone do not describe the effect on output.

  • Specialist equipment and replacement lead times
  • Stock held before and after outside processing
  • Work performed by another business on your materials

Make the customer handoff explicit

Explain whether you supply a component, deliver a finished product or install it on site. Review the insurance provisions of the supply agreement alongside the work you actually undertake.

  • Responsibility for transport and unloading
  • Customer-owned tooling held at your premises
  • Product specifications and contract insurance requests

Bring changes forward from the renewal date

A new process or a larger stock holding can make an old description inaccurate. Put the planned change into the coverage conversation before assuming the existing arrangement accommodates it.

  • Additional premises or off-site storage
  • New machinery, materials or product applications
  • An installation or delivery activity added to production

The focus here is property, movable equipment and general liability. Employee injury, business interruption and other exposures may call for additional coverage; this is not a complete insurance program.

Both operating profiles

Put the next production change on the agenda.

A new machine, outside storage or a first customer installation can change the insurance discussion. Procurement services are performed by Spot and its brokerage partners; Potrero Risk does not itself transact insurance.
